How to Layer Multiple Chains — Style Guide for Men
Chain Layering Guide for Men
Layering chains is the #1 jewelry trend for men in 2026. Here’s how to do it right.
The 2-Chain Layer (Beginner)
- Chain 1: 18-inch, 2mm thin (sits on collarbone)
- Chain 2: 22-inch, 5mm medium (hits mid-chest)
- Same metal color (both gold or both silver)
The 3-Chain Layer (Advanced)
- Chain 1: 16-inch, 2mm (choker style)
- Chain 2: 20-inch, 4mm (collarbone)
- Chain 3: 24-inch with pendant, 3mm (below chest)
Layering Rules
- Different lengths (at least 2 inches apart)
- Different thicknesses (thin + medium + thick)
- Same color (don’t mix gold and silver)
- Maximum 3 chains — more looks messy
- Add a pendant ONLY on the longest chain
What NOT to Do
Don’t layer chains of the same length (they tangle). Don’t mix colors. Don’t add more than 3 chains. Don’t wear layered chains with a high-collar shirt.
