Layering ambient lights is the #1 decor trend for 2026. Here’s how to do it right.
The 2-Light Layer (Beginner)
- Light 1: Galaxy projector (ceiling, ambient base)
- Light 2: RGB strip (behind bed or desk, accent)
- Same color family (both warm or both cool)
The 3-Light Layer (Advanced)
- Light 1: Galaxy projector (ceiling)
- Light 2: Nebula projector (behind TV/monitor, backlight)
- Light 3: RGB strip (desk or headboard, accent)
Layering Rules
- Different positions (ceiling, wall, desk)
- Different brightness levels (low + medium + accent)
- Same color family (don’t mix warm and cool)
- Maximum 3 main light sources — more looks cluttered
- Use a smart plug to control all together
What NOT to Do
Don’t put multiple bright lights in one corner (causes glare). Don’t mix warm and cool tones. Don’t run more than 3 colored modes simultaneously. Don’t place lights directly in your eyeline.
